When you’re a young woman in Hollywood who, like Megan Fox, has had a kind of sudden, massive fameconferred upon you—a fame that some argue is not necessarily commensurate with your work or even your talent—you have several options: You can move quickly to cash in on your popularity (e.g. make a record, launch a clothing line, do a reality show); you can go out of your way to make penance for your “unearned” success by signing on for serious projects of a certain artistic or social quality that are ultimately neither very artistic nor very social and don’t actually make any money (it’s very important that they don’t make any money—even accidentally); you can freak out, act out, and burn out; you can reject it all and run away and hide; or you can very quickly become hardened by the entire process. In short, while there are obvious perks to immediate, quaking celebrity (e.g. some money, a certain amount of power, free Vitaminwater), the well-worn escape routes are not entirely appealing.

At the age of 24, Fox has already appeared in two blockbuster movies—Michael Bay’s CGI-robot juggernaut Transformers (2007), and its sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen—which, combined, have grossed more than $1.5billion worldwide. Over the last few years, she has also done a series of other non-Transformers films, including How to Lose Friends and Alienate People (2008), and the campyDiablo Cody–written thriller Jennifer’s Body—the bulk of which have quickly wilted at the box office. Megan Fox is described as having a “dirty mind” and “clean hands” in the June 2010 issue of Allure, on newsstands May 25.

When she arrives for her cover shoot at Milk Studios in Los Angles, the 23-year-old actress had her Kindle with her; queued up was New York Times best-seller “Jesus Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don’t Know About Them).” Here’s what Megan shared with the mag:

On the topless pic that was leaked while filming Passion Play: “If I knew who took this picture, I would personally cause them harm — physical harm, I’m not a f—ing reality-TV star that’s courting the paparazzi and wants my f—ing picture taken all the time. I’m at my job and I’m trying to play a character and I’m trying to be serious, and this is the sh– that’s happening to me. It makes me furious.”

On plastic surgery: “I would encourage anyone to first speak with a therapist, to try and figure out where this want comes from, because a lot of times it’s not related to your teeth or your nose or your chin — the surgery is not going to alleviate that insecurity for you. If, then, you feel, This is something that I want to do, then do it. It’s amazing that we have the technology to do the stuff that we do.”

On avoiding industry events: “Everyone blows sunshine up everyone else’s ass. I hate receiving compliments; I hate being told I’m talented or people think I’m going to be a movie star. I always feel that it’s forced and fake.”

It’s hard to believe that a “Jonah Hex” movie is hitting theaters before “Wonder Woman” or “The Flash,” but that’s what we’re looking at. Luckily, “Hex” looks like it’s going to be a pretty cool affair thanks to the involvement of Josh Brolin (the star of “No Country For Old Men” and a lifelong Goonie) as Hex himself.

While we still haven’t seen much from the “Hex” production outside of a few official images, these ComicsAlliance exclusive DC Direct busts give a pretty clear indication of what we can expect in terms of character design. A bust of Megan Fox’s character, Leila, features the gun-toting prostitute — note the pistol behind her back — in her corseted finery, but with a waist that isn’t quite as impossibly narrow as it is in some of the production stills we’ve seen.

And while it was more or less a given that Jonah himself would be a grisly sight to behold, I don’t mind gawking at his face in statuesque form. Unless “Toy Story” rules apply, in which case I’m sorry I said anything. Both busts, along with plenty of other DC Direct merchandise, will be on display tomorrow at the New York Toy Fair.
